End of the Year Party and
New Year’s Party
People hold “bounenkai” (end of the year parties) in December to reward everyone for their services. There is another party called “shinnenkai,” (new year’s parties) held in January.
You can forget about any kind of hardship when you drink and have fun at such a party. These parties have cherished as venues for communication in Japan since long ago. You can see many happy drunk people in front of Kakegawa Station from the year-end through the new year.
Drinking together is one way Japanese people enjoy themselves.
