The left door in the very back
Izakaya Suzume (Fukuroi izakaya)
Suzume is the third oldest establishment in Mikado-Yokocho (street). They open at 12:30 in the afternoon and wait for their customers to come. On the cupboards that the mama (female owner of the store) opens and closes, there is a piece of green paper on the cupboard that says, "Do not lie. Do not pick on people weaker than you. Do not be defeated by yourself". You find a lot of menu boards when you look around the place, that is not roomy to say the least. They use styrofoam trays for sashimi as menu boards. "A customer said to me, 'I go out for drinks a lot but it's my first time to see menu boards made of styrofoam trays." The mama laughs. "I don't want to waste things. I even use the blank side of calendars." Every drinker says that Mikado-Yokocho is the deepest yokocho in Fukuroi. The distance between people is close and that makes the yokocho interesting. A man might ask you, "Where are you drinking at?" while he is standing right next to you in a public restroom. When I finally managed to open the left door in the very back of Mikado-Yokocho, I found something that brings back memories inside the door. How about some karaoke?
There are menu boards all over its walls. You will wonder if it is possible to make all of those. Well, I suppose everyone thinks that.
