The night that I was invited to a hostess bar
rizn (Fukuroi rizn, hostess bar)
I was walking down the street when I ran into Mr. Suzuki. He took me to a snack (a hostess bar) called rizn. The mama (female owner of the establishment) likes Little My from the cartoon Moomin. She always uses a planner that has Little My on it. Her aim is to make rizn a laid-back establishment. She tells us it is better to say, "I'm already happy," than to say, "I wish to be happy," when you pray to god for something. "Well, it's not enough to only say your wish. You need to say your name and address too," she tells me. There is a sofa, but it's fun to take a counter seat to speak with the mama. We talk about mitochondria and anti-aging, gourmet food, and work, never running out of things to discuss. It's a stimulating experience to meet somebody new or do something new. Mr. Suzuki picks up the microphone. His eyes gleam brightly from behind the glasses. He is all pumped up. And a song starts to play...
The bar is chic and the mama is kind and attentive. You may get nervous at first, but you'll get used to the place in about 5 minutes. Because it is so small inside, you can't get a seat sometimes, but the mama is waiting there to treat you to her hospitality.
