People bring places, things,
and experiences to life.
Take a journey to feel the breeze,
touch the earth,
and meet the people of Kakegawa.
Come and join us to spend time
in Kakegawa not possible anywhere else.
“Kakegawa Interactive Tourism” recognizes not only conventional tourist attractions but also all industries, activities, and daily life rooted in the Kakegawa area as community resources and cultural heritage, with the aim of establishing tourism guided by real locals who provide information that cannot be found in any pamphlet.

The most distinguishing feature of interactive tourism, and the most appealing aspect of Kakegawa as seen from other communities, is “the opportunity to meet with locals from the community” that lies within tours. Guides by residents and encounters with people from the community are a few of the reasons for participants from communities with different terrain and ways of life to have a novel and exciting experience so that will make them want to visit Kakegawa again.

We asked guests who have visited Kakegawa from all across Japan to contribute in writing, so as to communicate not only the appeal of exploring this area, but also the appeal of living here and meeting people here. It is our hope that the voices of previous visitors to Kakegawa will be your motivation to visit Kakegawa for the first time, or a chance for you to encounter our city once again.

Kakegawa is developing tourism in which the people who live here convey to visitors how to use and enjoy local cultural resources, enjoy these resources together, make these resources more appealing, and make people even more interested and attached to these resources than before. Come and experience “a trip to Kakegawa”, where locals and visitors can interact.

Kakegawa General Tourist Information Center
“Tabisuta”
This tourist information center is the first thing that passengers see when getting off at JR Kakegawa Station. It is in a distinctive wooden octagonal booth in front of the Shinkansen ticket gate. The staff have a humble pride for the counter, which was made using timber from the wooden building of the former Kakegawa Station. They are always ready to quickly answer questions from visitors on their way to Kakegawa and other nearby municipalities.
